Where in the World is my LBL Therapist?

Interview with LBL Hypnotherapists

The Evolution of LBL Hypnotherapy

In this issue we are departing from our usual format of doing an in-depth interview with one practitioner to asking several people one question.

As we are celebrating 50 years of LBL we thought to tap into the collective wisdom of some long time practitioners and ask:

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

Last summer many LBL therapist were able to attend The Newton Institute World Conference. It was fascinating to be with practitioners from all over the world and compare notes.  One thing that was apparent is that the work of LBL is not a static thing.  We, and the work, are evolving and growing.

Here is a taste of what some practitioners are finding.

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

I conducted my first LBL in September 2001. Since then I have facilitated over 2000 LBLs in more than a dozen countries. I have conducted session for Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, atheists and agnostics.  Regardless of race, nationality, or religious beliefs, l am continually amazed at the consistency of the experiences LBL clients have.

I have also noticed some aspects of the LBL experience that seem to be evolving. I think that the biggest change I have noticed is much less personification. In the early years of my practice, guides, loved ones, and even council beings often appeared in human form or something similar to human form. For the last six or eight years these beings tend to appear more as a wise and loving presence with little or no form. I hear descriptions like “a warm and loving presence.”

Another aspect of the work that seems to have evolved is around names. So often, when I ask for a soul name or a guide name, clients are getting responses like, “that does not matter” or “it isn’t important.” Sometimes, guides even make a joke about asking or offer some silly name that is clearly a message that the name is not significant.

The other thing I believe I see happening, is that it is becoming easier to access the afterlife. It seems to me that I had to work much harder to get someone through the “gateway” and into spirit than I do now. Fifty years ago, Michael Newton found a way to go past the death scene in the past life in order to enter the spirit world. He developed that methodology over 30 years. It was uncharted territory and it took tremendous effort to get there. My sense is that the gateway is open more widely and that it is easier to access the love, wisdom and healing that is available to us in the time between lives.”

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

I began doing LBLs in September of 2002 as part of my certification process. Initially, my LBLs were textbook according to the training protocols provided by Dr. Michael Newton. Most clients sought the assurance through the LBL experience that their souls were eternal and transcended the beliefs taught by traditional religions. They had a strong desire to experience all facets of the LBL process and afterlife as chronicled in Dr. Newton’s books. Most were particularly interested in reuniting with their Soul Family, discovering their Soul Purpose, and receiving personal healing. How to implement their Soul Purpose in their personal lives and work became a high priority.

Over the years, clients’ perspective shifted from an uncertainty surrounding a Spiritual existence and afterlife, and how this would change their personal lives if it existed to a strong belief in a Spiritual existence and a strong desire to contribute to humanity and the world collectively.

LBLs objectives now include personal healing motivated with a desire to service others. Personal healing became the vehicle that empowered them to help others, and make a difference in the world. LBLs began to conform less the traditional format and began to adapt or orient to the client’s needs. There was less focus on Soul Family and Life Selection and more emphasis on the counsel of their Guides, Classroom experiences, and healing stations.

At first, I resisted this change. With the intervention of some determined Guides, I soon realized the client’s Higher Self and Guides knew the best path for maximum healing and spiritual growth. After all, the LBL was their journey, not mine. This change in my perspective allowed clients to experience what they needed most.

I cannot help but feel the LBL community has facilitated this shift from a more self-orientation to the inclusion of others and the global community. It seems like a natural progression. This is not to say that the LBL experience is not a personal journey, but in my experience, it has expanded to include service to others and the world at large.”

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

It’s been such an honour to offer these sessions over the years. For my mind they still carry the deep and powerful experience of meeting one’s soul for the first time, though I’ve seen changes too. As I pause to consider how our work has evolved in that time, I’d put it into 2 categories.

The first is that the sessions themselves no longer seem to follow the set format that Michael originally scoped. I sense that those first 7000 souls he worked with, were here to open the door and provide a foundation for this powerful experience through a replication of experiences across key places in the spiritual realm. I am witnessing a greater uniqueness of where a soul will obtain their wisdom, e.g. chatting to other beings, or a tendency to bypass their traditional soul group to meet with peers in a less structured format. I put this down to either more advanced souls coming for sessions these days, or the fact that we target more the individual experience rather than research purposes, as Michael once did.

The second theme is the greater number of souls coming, who have diversity in their soul lineage. I’m talking about the fact that other worlds and dimensions make up the majority of their experiences. I feel that the mix of humanity is changing and more souls are coming here to help change the overall vibration of human consciousness, just by being the type of soul they are. Change the mix, change the collective and then bring new hope to a troubled world. This was a key theme of our World Conference in the USA last year and why we dedicated two edition of Stories of the Afterlife to this emerging trend last year.”

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

From when I first started to facilitate LBL sessions and until today I have noticed that my clients experience of LBL has evolved.

I will give you two examples:

During the last two years I have seen a lot of LBL clients who feel that it is urgent to find their life purpose and mission. The age span is from 30-70 years and both gender are represented. These clients are often multitalented and feel they have come to the end of the road with what they have earlier felt enthusiasm for. They tell me that they need to know the deeper meaning of their life. Some are prepared to change their life in fundamental ways to become more tuned in to what their life mission is all about. These clients seem to know already before the session that there is a mission waiting. They seem to just need to remember and go ahead and do it. They are more goal oriented than the clients I met the first few years after I certified.

The second evolving trend that I noticed is the clients who find out before or during and maybe after the session that they want to serve a cause that helps mankind. One example is a man who is an engineer and during his LBL he realized that his mission and way to help mankind is to provide fresh water to areas that are in desperate need for such a help. He has invented a kind of box that can purify water. He is totally devoted and has already made the box available to many of those areas in need.”

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

My clients’ Life Between Lives sessions have definitely changed and evolved over time. In general, sessions have become deeper, more focused, and yet more far-ranging at the same time. And hopefully, more meaningful than in the earliest days of my work.

One aspect or reason for this seems to be that the level of spiritual awareness of my clients has risen. People coming to me now, whether they are in their 30s or their 60s, seem to be much more conscious of their existence as eternal souls participating in a human lifetime. They are more open to exploring and understanding past life patterns, ongoing spiritual issues, as well as their soul’s unique characteristics, talents, and aspirations that they bring forth into each lifetime.

LBL clients seem to fall into two camps. There are those who are perhaps newer to high spirituality, and the LBL experience can be quite an earth-shaking revelation. I believe that many if not most of Dr. Newton’s clients fit into this category. Then, there are those clients for whom an LBL session is almost more of a confirmation than a revelation. They have already heard the whispers of spirit and intuition, and, while they will still receive important revelations, their session tends to corroborate or verify what they had already sensed. I would say that, over time, the ratio of ‘pure revelation’ sessions to ‘confirmation’ sessions has tilted largely towards the latter.

Another important aspect of the evolution of my clients’ sessions has to do with my own growth and development as an LBL therapist. At my training with Dr. Newton in 2004, we were given training manuals that included session guidelines, and it was all a bit overwhelming — as my colleagues may remember! The focus was on guiding a client through many ‘station stops,’ including the crossing-over experience from a past life, meeting Spirit Guides, visiting with a Soul Group, consulting with their Council of Elders, perhaps visiting a place of healing and restoration, a library, a Place of Life and Body Selection, etc. There was quite a lot of ground to cover. It was like a ‘Disneyland of the Afterlife,’ with so many rides and attractions that it was difficult to embrace all of them in a single day.

As my knowledge and experience of the LBL process grew, and as my awareness of our spiritual reality expanded, I became more comfortable and flexible with the program, more agile; and more open to the twists and turns of a particular person’s individual interests and therapeutic needs. Because many people come in for LBL sessions at a certain fork in the road, or with a distinct issue or blockage, I determined that it was much more important to explore two or three areas in greater depth, rather than skimming through five or six areas like a tourist bus just seeing the sights.

I also believe that I developed a relationship and a trust with the spiritual beings who are truly guiding these sessions. Clients’ Spirit Guides, Council Elders, my own Guides and Teachers, various Beings of Light, they sensed my willingness to journey to new realms, and to adapt; and so they are comfortable with leading us to what they know are the important discoveries for the client. Sessions are becoming more ethereal, more experiential, more multi-dimensional, with greater knowledge of our existence in various planes simultaneously.

Dr. Newton might say to us now what many Spirit Guides tell us in sessions: ‘You are doing well — but there is more.’ “

In what way has your client’s experience of LBL evolved and changed over the years?

More than ten years ago when I launched my practice with LBL, there were many clients who read Michael Newton’s work and were searching to learn about their soul group experiences. Seekers wanted to find out who is in their soul group and how they interact with each other in the spirit world. They thought it was important to know the color of their spirit to determine how evolved they are as a soul. Questions that seemed to be foremost on clients minds were Who is in my soul group in the life I am now living…..parents, children, siblings, friends? How am I connected to my soul group?  What is the meaning of a conflictual relationship? or Why do I have so much paincoming from a particular person? Why do I have emotional and/or physical pain in this life? as well as What does our soul group do when we are together? While former clients wanted to understand their reason for being in this life at this time, physical and emotional questions took precedence.

Currently seekers are asking more questions about their spiritual journey and how  and what are they accomplishing in this life. More clients have been in contact with their spirit guide and want to have a closer connection. They are intent on learning or validating their purpose of this life. Some feel that this is the last life and want to make sure that they do what they need to do to complete their earthy existence. The questions seem to be more in-depth and more connected to their spirit world experience. More questions about guides, how many, and the purpose of each guide  emerge. Participants want to validate how guides communicate with their mind and spirit. Answers are sought about lessons in this Earth existence as well as How am I doing in this life? Rather than just curiosity seekers, more clients want to know how they fit in to the spirit world and who are they in this realm. Each client experience is different,  however, every participant leaves feeling enriched and energized to continue this life with added knowledge and wisdom and with the joy of experiencing and connecting with their eternal spiritual life.”
