Thank you Sue for being willing to share of your experiences. I know you have taken on various roles for MNI in coaching and teaching and now are offering your trainings as part of the Career Path to LBL. I would love to know more about how you came to this work? Did you have any idea early on that this would be your path?
Absolutely not! In 1994 I lived in Madison, WI – a “soccer-mom” who played golf, active in League of Women Voters, PTA, children’s sports. So, at that time I did not know that this work was in my path. But, that August “something shifted”. I found out that a White Buffalo was born just south of Madison, a Lakota Nation sign of the shifting of energy towards peace. Somehow this shift felt connected to me and thus began my pursuit of all things metaphysical.
Early on I studied hypnosis and past life regression, opening my practice in 1996. I’d had many past life regression trainers, yet yearned for more . . . I’d searched, and discarded many. Until my sister shared “you ought to read Journey of Souls” – it had been on my bookshelf for years, unopened. The next day (after reading into the night) I explored training with The Newton Institute (as it was known back then). The rest is history, glorious experiences and history.
Interesting about that “something had shifted” Do you have more insight about that now?
I have had increasing insight into the “having a sense of” over the years . . . often through being with my clients on their journeys, understanding their perspectives
Our theme this month for SOTA is connected to the ways in which grief brings people to want to explore LBL. Do you have a case to share along the theme?
Yes, a young woman in her mid-30s came to me. Kaitlind had lost her soulmate/ husband 10 months earlier. They were together 15 years, though married less than one year when, a mere five days after their wedding reception, her husband, Matt, suffered a stroke that ultimately led to his death. Kaitlind was devastated and her grief was deep.
Being grief stricken, she felt lost and adrift. She came to her LBL session, wanting to connect with Matt to feel the stability she had known with him.
Dropping into a past life, she was presented with a metaphor of being stuck. She described her past life self as struggling to free herself from being stuck in the desert sand. She then transitioned to another life, that of a man who owned a pawnshop. He’d led a rough life, but eventually found happiness in marriage. After his wife’s death, he spent the last 15 years of his life in a recliner watching TV. The core lesson that came was “to not waste your life” with the encouragement to “go for it and reach for the stars”
As a young child, Kaitlind was full of hope. This feeling was snuffed out by suffering the trauma of abuse. Kaitlind was torn by her skepticism and visions of hope. In Kaitlind’s LBL she was reminded of that hopeful child. With the help of her Guide and a cleansing ritual, Kaitlind, who originally came to address her grief was able to reconnect with a desire to live in a way that expresses her gifts and embraces her intuition.
Witnessing Kaitlind’s journey, I felt…. I felt as if I’d witnessed a miraculous transition . . . From the depths of her despair rose the essence of hope, a desire to move forward and perhaps somehow be a conduit for others to follow her path. It reminds me of a walk I’d made in Avebury, England. It was a dour, drizzly day, walking towards the Avebury stone circle. Crossing the street, the sun began to come out and then an incredible rainbow appeared –totally embracing the stone circle. How lucky we are to witness such miracles.
Afterwards, Kaitlind emailed this “pic” of how her Guide appeared to her. My heart swells knowing how much this journey was a soulful transition, meant to be. I’m grateful she came to me and it was such a pleasure to accompany her on the journey.
People come to want an LBL experience for all kinds of reasons..
Yes, they are from all walks of life and many are searching for their path, their reason for being here, now. Some have had deeply painful experiences and are looking for answers . . . why was my childhood so painful, and/or why did s/he die, leaving me all alone?
Yes. Have you noticed any common themes in the clients you serve?
I am aware that my clients are more aware, more connected to the “beyond”, and their spiritual vibrations are at a higher level than those of a decade ago. We, as souls having this human existence, have continued to evolve. So many of us have an awareness of “other” than the physical realm . . . so many are asking questions. That is what we, as LBL facilitators, are here to help provide. . . answers to those innermost questions.
Yes, it seems that something is shifting in the collective, that the ‘veil is being lifted‘ and more is being revealed about other worlds and dimensions.
Is there a message that keeps coming through as a teaching for humanity at this time?
Yes – Be open to inspiration; let go of convention.
You are involved in the Career Path training for MNI. How did this come about?
Paul Aurand was the trainer when I learned to be an LBL facilitator and he became a mentor shortly thereafter. He encouraged me to become a certified hypnosis instructor with IACT (International Association of Counselors & Therapists). I’d been teaching traditional, script-driven, hypnotherapy for 25 years. Again, I knew I wanted more and Transpersonal Hypnotherapy and Regression Therapy was that answer. I assisted Paul’s training a few years ago and he certified my competence with IACT. I began offering certification courses two years ago and absolutely love teaching. I have decades of experience, learned from a multitude of instructors and gained a depth of knowledge that I share with my students. ♥
Sue’s bio in her own words:
Sue Joy-Sobota, BA, BCH, CI & CP
I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison (history, with focus on social and cultural history). I have a life-long interest in cultural anthropology – gathering a sense about what it was like “back then”, what were the cultural or tribal differences, what influences might geological patterns have made, what triggered the “personalities” of the indigenous populations of ancient times. I am a IACT Board Certified Hypnotist and approved Instructor and a MNI Career Partner.
I began my spiritual journey in the mid-90’s, learning about energy healing, hypnosis, past life regression, etc. I opened my hypnosis practice in 1996 and continued my education by attending workshops and conferences. I learned from some of the industry leaders such as: Doctor Richard Harte, National Guild of Hypnotists; Dr Richard Schwarz, Internal Family Systems; Dr Will Horton, NLP; Dr Winifred Lucas and Henry Leo Bolduc, Past Life Regression; Dr Irene Hickman, Remote Depossession; Mietek Wirkus, Energy Healing; Dr Stefano Benemeglio, Analogical Psychology; Dr Harvey Max Chochinov, Dignity Therapy; Paul Aurand, Life Between Lives facilitation; and Pete Smith, Quantum Consciousness.
I have enjoyed volunteering with the Michael Newton Institute serving on the Curriculum Redevelopment Committee, as a Career Advisor sharing knowledge and assisting those interested in taking the LBL training, and as a Coach for a student enrolled in the 2024, 2025 and 2026 classes.
